Y was alleged to have conspired with “contract killers” in the “honour killing” of his brother in law. Y left the country soon after the murder and was arrested on his return to the country over a year later. Although one of the convicted “contract killers” gave evidence against Y at trial the jury was directed to return a not guilty verdict following a “half time” submission by the defence.
