About the Legal 500 Series

 

The legal 500 guide recently published its 31st edition. It is widely regarded as  the worlds largest legal referral guide. Their meticulous researchers target their editorial at corporate counsel, and others who use law firms, so they have a genuinely independent guide to the strengths of the market leaders.

 

Their aim, which is undoubtedly achieved, is to provide independent, unbiased commentary on the leading law firm- and lawyers- in the United Kingdom.

 

The 2014 Edition

 

The twenty-seventh edition of the series listed Opus Law in its crime: fraud section and recognised Opus Law as a “leading firm” and Ben Jones as a a “leading lawyer”.

 

The 2015 Edition

 

The twenty-eighth edition again listed Opus Law in its crime: fraud section describing us as follows:

Up-and-coming firm’ Opus Law ‘s niche practice is co-led by by ‘influential rainmaker‘ Ben Jones and Sarah Batty.

Opus Law was again a “leading firm” and both Ben Jones and Sarah Batty recognised as “leading lawyers”.

The 2016 Edition

 

The twenty-ninth edition again listed Opus Law in its crime: fraud section, marking a hat-trick of consecutive appearances. This years guide stated:

The “very strong” team at Opus Law is headed by the “extremely talented” Ben Jones and Sarah Batty.

Opus Law was again a “leading firm” and both Ben Jones and Sarah Batty recognised as “leading lawyers”.

 

The 2017 Edition

 

The thirtieth edition again listed Opus law in its crime: fraud section, marking four consecutive years of appearances. This years guide stated:

Opus Law ‘stands out as a leading provider of both general and fraud-based criminal defence services’.

Ben Jones leads the Bradford-based team and is ‘very hard working and dedicated, leaving no stone unturned’.

 Sarah Batty also comes recommended for her ‘attention to detail in large cases’.

Opus Law was again a “leading firm” and both Ben Jones and Sarah Batty recognised as “leading lawyers”.

The 2018 Edition

 

For the fifth year running Opus Law has been listed in the prestigious Legal 500 guide in the field of Crime: Fraud for Yorkshire and the Humber. This years listing marked a fifth consecutive listing for the firm in this field along with Ben Jones and Sarah Batty being recognised as recommended lawyers again.

 

This years guide describes Opus Law as follows:

 

"The 'excellent' team at Opus Law has 'a very high reputation for handling complex fraud work', advising clients being investigated and charged by authorities. The 'forthright and hardworking' Ben Jones  has been described as having 'a real instinct for a jury trial'; he heads the practice alongside Sarah Batty. The practice has an extensive track record in cases of the utmost complexity and value." 

 

The 2019 Edition

 

For the sixth year running Opus Law has been listed in the prestigious Legal 500 guide in the field of Crime: Fraud for Yorkshire and the Humber. This years listing marked a sixth consecutive listing for the firm in this field along with Ben Jones and Sarah Batty being recognised as recommended lawyers again. This year Opus Law have been promoted to a tier 2 firm in recognition of being a leading firm and undertaking a vast range of fraud cases throughout the last year.

The Legal 500 is the leading guide to law firms in the U.K. highlighting the teams who are providing the most cutting edge and innovative advice. Shortlisting for the most prestigious of award ceremonies follows months of thorough research by the organisation to ‘pinpoint the most capable, expert practitioners and firms operating at the top of their game’.

 

Opus law have been singled out to be included in the category of Crime, Fraud and Licensing (outside London) and are the only firm to have been so honoured in the Yorkshire and Humberside region.

The 2021 Edition

 

For the eighth year running Opus Law has been listed in the prestigious Legal 500 guide in the field of Crime: Fraud for Yorkshire and the Humber. This year’s listing marks an eighth consecutive listing for the firm in this field along with ‘industry heavyweight’ Ben Jones and Sarah Batty being recognised as recommended lawyers with specific praise given for their ‘tireless’ efforts on behalf of their clients. Opus Law have again been recognised as a Tier 2 firm. 

 

This year’s guide describes Opus law as follows:
