Opus Law Act in £60 million HIV Cure Tax Fraud Trial

Reporting restrictions having been lifted we can reveal that The Opus Law Team acted for the financial director of a group of companies which promoted tax schemes claiming sideways relief in respect of investments in environmental projects and HIV research.

The evidence in the case was considerable and meticulously considered by the team of lawyers working on the case. In keeping with the Opus ethos, client care was paramount throughout. Recognising the importance for the client to carry on as normal a life as possible, all interviews were fitted in to suit his convenience at his home.

The trial at Southwark Crown Court lasted for a number of months and at all hearings it was ensured that a senior member of the defence team was present to assist Counsel and support both the client and family members.

Counsel instructed was Mr Charles Bott QC assisted by Mr Mark Harries (recently appointed as a QC), both of Carmelite Chambers.
