R v S

Multi-million pound MTIC fraud, involving the fictitious provision of travel services by 19 companies in the UK and defrauding HMRC of almost £3million in VAT repayments.

Although the evidence against S was overwhelming and a guilty plea inevitable, Opus were able, through skilled negotiation, to reduce the amount S was required to pay by way of Confiscation Order from £444,000 sought by the CPS to an order to pay just £10,000.
