Sarah Batty, Director, represented D in relation to a serious allegation of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. From the start a robust stance was taken to the case and a plea to a lesser offence was offered. Whilst this wasn’t initially accepted by the Prosecution, following meticulous preparation by ourselves and Counsel including the obtaining of expert evidence, on the day of trial they revised their decision and accepted a plea to a single offence of causing grievous bodily harm. The defendant received a suspended sentence of imprisonment with a term reflecting the robust stance taken at an early stage.
